Challenge:

To create a font family was not too literal, thinking conceptually rather than literally, to visually reflect the emotional tone of the story without turning it into a decorative design.

Strategy:

Instead of mimicking what could be expected, I focused on the feelings: bravery, strangeness & strength. I explored serif styles and landed on an expressive and organic type with slightly irregular forms, to showcase an unexpected strength.

Process:

I went through several rounds of sketches and digital refinement, focusing on achieving balance between playfulness, whimsy and legibility. The poster design also reflects this balance, with typography at center stage and illustrated elements communicating the vibe of the story.
